a cantonment of British India, in the district of Ajmeer, North-West Provinces, stands on a large sandy plain, 15 miles S.E. of Ajmeer; N. Lat. 26° 20', E. Lon. 74° 50'. It is large, and regularly laid out, with broad streets, and has several tanks and wells. The climate is considered superior to that of any other station in India; but the heat is very great, sometimes in summer rising above 100°. The mean annual temperature is about 76°.
