the first barbarian king of Italy, was the son of Edecon, the minister of Attila. In 476 he wrested the sceptre from the hands of Romulus Augustulus, the last Roman emperor of the West; and in 493 he was deposed and assassinated by Theodric the Ostrogoth. (See Italy.)
