a town of Spain, province of Coruña, Galicia, on the Sar, near its confluence with the Ulla, 50 miles S. of Coruña. It contains a cathedral, a court-house, schools, and a prison. The body of St James is said to have landed at Padron, after miraculously sailing from Joppa in seven days. It was on this account a favourite resort of pilgrims. Pop. 6108, employed in farming and in the making of woollen and linen stuffs.
