(modern Lhakura), a mountain of Phocis, was celebrated in ancient mythology for its sacred character. Delphi, the oracle of Apollo, stood at its foot; the Corycian cave, sacred to Pan and the Nymphs, was situated on its slope; and Castalia, the stream which furnished the holy water for the Delphian temple, sprung up between its two summits. There also was the spot where Parnell, the Muses held their assemblies, and whence they took their flight through the midnight air.
