in British North America, rises to the west of the eastern chain of the Rocky Mountains, within 300 yards of Frazer River, which takes an opposite course, and flows through the mountains and the plains beyond, first eastward, and then N.E. Near the foot of Lake Athabasca it joins the Slave River, which issues from this lake, and flows northward to the Great Slave Lake.
