(περιπατητικός, I walk about), a term applied to the disciples of Aristotle, because he taught them while walking in the περιπάτου, or promenade of the Lyceum at Athens. Peripatetic accordingly came to be equivalent to Aristotelian. (See Aristotle, and Aristotelian Philosophy.)
