a town of British India, in the presidency of Bombay, and province of Guzerat, on the Saraswati, an affluent of the Banas, 63 miles N.W. of Ahmedabad. It is surrounded by a wall, partially built from the ruins of the ancient city of Ambulwara, whose site can still be traced. Several important manufactures are carried on at Puttun, especially those of swords, spears, pottery, silk and cotton cloth. Pop. estimated at 30,000.
