a town of Prussia, province of Pomerania, in the circle and 20 miles N.N.E. of Cöslin, on the right bank of the Wepper, not far above its mouth. It is pretty well built, and has a castle, several churches, public offices, and courts of law. The principal manufactures are sail-cloth, damask, linen and woollen fabrics; bleaching and ship-building are also carried on. Rügenwalde is resorted to as a watering-place, and is noted for its smoked salmon and eels, in which a considerable trade is carried on. Pop. 5067.
