a town of Brazil, in the province of Menas Geraes, on the right bank of the Rio das Velhas, 50 miles N.N.W. of Duro Preto. It is a long, dull town, with broad, well-paved streets, lined with handsome houses built generally of earth and roofed with tiles. The public buildings are a court-house, several churches, an hospital, and two schools. In the neighbourhood are some gold-mines; but, notwithstanding, the trade of Sabara is not very great. Pop. about 5000.
