a seaport-town of Siam, on the shore of a bay on the east coast of the Malay peninsula, 90 miles S.E. of Ligor; N. Lat. 7. 15., E. Long. 101. It is partly built of brick; and on the heights around it stand many pagodas, which have an imposing appearance. The town is divided into several quarters, occupied by Siamese, Chinese, and Malays respectively. The commerce of the port is chiefly carried on by vessels trading between Siam and Singapore.
