a town of the kingdom of Naples, province of Capitanata, on a hill looking down upon the Fortore, 13 miles N.W. of San Severo. It is a small place, with several churches, convents, an hospital, &c. Near it are ruins, supposed to be those of the ancient Teate. Pop. 4000.
