a town of France, in the department of Nord, arrondissement and 12 miles E. of Cambrai, on the Salle. It has an ancient Benedictine abbey, now again occupied by the monks; and the parish church is a handsome building, with a lofty tower, and some fine statues. Lawn, merino, cotton cloth, leather, beer, soap, and other articles, are manufactured here. Pop. 4868.
