a market-town of England, in the county and 10 miles N. by W. of Worcester, at the confluence of the Stour and the Severn; the latter river being here crossed by an iron bridge of one arch. It is quite a modern town, and is, for the most part, well built of brick. It has several churches and schools, a savings bank, and several benevolent institutions. Carpets and leather are made here, and there are an iron-foundry and a wool-spinning mill. A considerable trade is carried on in hops, corn, apples, coal, &c. Pop. 2993.
