a burgh of barony and parish of Scotland, Fife-shire, 10 miles W.S.W. of Cupar, on the left bank of the Miglo. It has a town-hall, a parish church, and others belonging to the Free Church, the United Presbyterians, and the Reformed Presbyterians, as well as several schools. The people are chiefly employed in weaving; and there are here also a bleachfield, corn-mills, malt-houses, and breweries. Pop. 1304.
