a town of European Russia, in the government of Podolia, between two arms of the Bug, 80 miles N.E. of Kamenetz. It is enclosed by a moat, and has a citadel, Roman Catholic and Greek churches, a synagogue, a gymnasium formerly a Jesuit college, and some trade. Pop. 9888.
