a town of Prussian Westphalia, capital of a circle of the same name in the government of Munster, 14 miles E. of the city of Munster. There are several churches, a monastery, Latin school, lunatic asylum, &c. It has extensive linen and cotton manufactures, and is a chief seat of the Munster linen trade. Pop. 4647.
