a town of England, Somersetshire, on the Bristol Channel, 19 miles S.W. of Bristol. It has recently risen from an insignificant village to a favourite watering-place, and has several well built streets, two of which are in the form of crescents. There are here two established churches, one of which is a neat building on the slope of a hill, an Independent chapel, national and infant schools. Many of the inhabitants are engaged in fishing.
