a large inlet of the Pacific Ocean, on the N.E. of China, between N. Lat. 32. and 40., E. Long. 120. and 127. It is bounded by the peninsula of Corea on the east, and the Chinese provinces of Kiang-su and Shan-tung on the west, and in the north-west it opens into the two gulfs of Chi-li and Leao-Zong, the latter of which is separated from the Yellow Sea by a peninsula called the Regent's Sword. It receives the Hoang-ho and most of the rivers of Corea.
