HUNGARY, a kingdom bounded by the Carpathian mountains, which divide it from Poland, on the north; by Transylvania and Walachia on the east; by the river Drave, which separates it from Sclavonia, on the south; and by Austria and Moravia on the west. It is one continued plain of 300 miles long, and is situated between 16^{\circ} and 23^{\circ} of E. lon. and between 45^{\circ} and 49^{\circ} of N. lat. It is now subject to the empress queen.
