CEYLON, an island in the Indian ocean, situated between and E. long. and between and N. lat. It is about two hundred and fifty miles long, and two hundred broad. The Dutch, who are in possession of all the sea-coast, monopolize all the cinnamon produced in the island, the king being obliged to keep in the centre of the island, in his capital of Candy.
