ÆGIMURUS, (anc. geogr.) an island on the bay of
Ægina of Carthage, about thirty miles distant from that city, (Livy;) now the Galetta: This island being afterwards sunk in the sea, two of its rocks remained above water, which were called Ære, and mentioned by Virgil, because the Romans and Carthaginians entered into an agreement or league to settle their mutual boundaries at these rocks.
