FELIX, proconsul, and governor of Judea in the first century, was brother to Pallas the freedman of the emperor Claudius. He arrived in Judea about the year 53, when he conceived a violent passion for Drusilla the daughter of Agrippa and wife of Azizus, and married her. For this reason St Paul, on his speaking before him, discoursed of chastity and the judgment to come with such energy, that Felix trembled. Sometime after, Nero recalled him on account of his ill conduct, and sent Portius Festus to succeed him.
