GUAXACA, a town of North America, in the Audience of Mexico, and capital of a province of the same name, with a bishop's see. It is without walls, and does not contain above 2000 inhabitants; but it is rich, and they make very fine sweet-meats and chocolate. It has several rich convents, both for men and women. W.
