ANTIGONUS, one of Alexander's commanders, to whom Asia fell. He conquered Eumenes, and expelled Seleucus out of Syria; who flying to Ptolemy Lagus in Egypt, a bloody war commenced betwixt him, Cassander, and Antigonus, wherein, by the help of his son Demetrius, Antigonus prevailed, and built the city Antigonia, anno Romæ 448. Afterward Cassander, Seleucus, and Lyfimachus, uniting against him, routed him, in league with king Pyrrhus, and flew him near Epirus, 301 years before Christ.
