CHRYSOCOMA, GOLDY-LOCKS: A genus of the polygamia aequalis order, belonging to the syngenesia class of plants; and in the natural method ranking under the 49th order, Compositae. The receptacle is

naked; the pappus simple; the calyx hemispherical and imbricated; the style hardly longer than the florets. There are nine species, the most remarkable of which are, the linofyris, the coma aurea, and the cornua. These are herbaceous flowering perennials, growing from one to two feet high, ornamented with narrow leaves, and compound floccular flowers of a yellow colour. They are easily propagated by dividing the roots or by cuttings; but the two last require to be sheltered in the green-house in winter.
