CORONE (anc. geog.), a town of Messenia, situated on the sea, giving name to the Sinus Coronæus, (Pliny): now Golfo di Corone. Pausanias takes it to be the Aspea of Homer; but Strabo Thurra, and Pliny Pedafus, now Corone, in the territory of Belvidere, in the Morea. E. Long. 22, Lat. 36. 30.
