NEGAPATAN, a town of Asia in the peninsula on this side the Ganges, and on the coast of Coromandel. It was first a colony of the Portuguese, but was taken from them by the Dutch. The factory purchase very little besides tobacco and long linen cloths; however, the Dutch have thought proper to erect a fort here. It is situated in E. Long. 79. 10. N. Lat. 14. 15.
