ORIXA, in botany: A genus of the monogynia order, belonging to the tetrandria class of plants; and in the natural method ranking with those that are doubtful. The calyx is quadripartite; the petals are four, plain and lanceolate; the stigma globular; the capsule and seeds unknown. Of this there are two species, viz. 1. The frutescens; 2. Japonica, both natives of Japan.
