CORONE, in Ancient Geography, a town of Messenia, situated on the sea, giving name to the Sinus Coroneus, (Pliny); now Golfo di Corone. Pausanias takes it to be the Æpea of Homer; but Strabo Thuria, and Pliny Pedasus, now Corone, in the territory of Belvidere, in the Morea. E. Long. 22. N. Lat. 36. 30.
