MARACAYBO, a lake in South America, 150 miles long and 90 broad, which communicates with the North sea. It is well defended by strong forts; which, however, did not hinder Sir Henry Morgan, a bucanier, from plundering several towns on the coast. See CARACAS, SUPPLEMENT.
