ORFA, a considerable town of Diarbeck (anciently Mesopotamia) in Asia, very pleasantly situated, and well fortified. It formerly belonged to Persia; but is now in the Turkish dominions, and is a place of very good trade. It has a stately castle standing on a hill, which makes a great show at a distance. They pretend to show the well where Rachel watered her father's camels when Jacob met her, and they call it Abraham's well. E. Long. 37. 45. N. Lat. 36. 20.
