CAIFONG, a large, populous, and rich town of Asia, in China, seated in the middle of a large and well cultivated plain. It stands in a bottom; and when besieged by the rebels in 1642, they ordered the dykes of the river Hoang-ho to be cut, which drowned the city, and destroyed 300,000 of its inhabitants. E.
