CORONE, in Ancient Geography, a town of Messenia, situated on the sea, giving name to the Sinus Coronæus, (Pliny); now Golfo di Corone. Paufania takes it to be the Aspea of Homer; but Strabo Thuria, and Pliny Pedafur, now Corone, in the territory of Belvidere, in the Morea. E. Long. 22. N. Lat. 36. 30.
