MARBURG, a circle in the Austrian province of Steyermark, extending over 1328 square miles, and containing 167,498 inhabitants. It is generally hilly, and better adapted for breeding cattle than for agriculture. The capital, of the same name, is a city situated on the river Drave, containing a castle, a minster, 654 houses, and 3986 inhabitants.
