SCHWELM, a town of Prussia, in the province of Westphalia, on the Schwelmbach, 35 miles W.S.W. of Aresberg. It has manufactures of linen, woollen, and cotton goods, iron, steel, and hardware, leather, &c.; and some trade in cattle. In the vicinity are medicinal springs. Pop. 4598.
