BEROSUS, a priest of the temple of Belus at Babylon in the time of Ptolemy Philadelphus, and author of the History of Chaldaæ, a work often cited by the ancients, and of which Josephus gives some curious fragments. The best editions of these fragments are by Richter, Lipz. 1825, and in Didot's Fragm. Historicorum Græcorum, vol. ii. Paris, 1848.
