ATHENÆUS, a mechanician of Magna Græcia, who dedicated to Marcellus, the conqueror of Syracuse, a work termed Περὶ Μυχανημάτων, "On Warlike Engines." It is extant in Thevenot's Mathematici Veteres. He must have flourished about the year 214 B.C.
