TERMINI, a town on the north coast of Sicily, at the mouth of a river of the same name, in the province and 23 miles E.S.E. of Palermo. It stands on a hill, in the midst of a rich and well cultivated region; and is defended by walls and a strong castle. There are here several churches, convents, hospitals, and a college. The harbour is good; and corn, oil, and other agricultural productions are exported. The warm saline baths, from which the place derived its ancient name, Thermæ Himerenses, are still in high repute. Pop. 9000.
