in commerce, a kind of measure, containing an uncertain quantity of several commodities. A chest of sugar, *v.g.* contains from ten to fifteen hundred weight; a chest of glass, from two hundred to three hundred feet; of Castile soap, from two and an half to three hundred weight; of indigo, from one and an half to two hundred weight, five score to the hundred.
