or ABRETTINE (anc. geog.), a district of Mytilene, in Asia. Hence the epithet Abretteneus given Jupiter, (Strabo); whose priest was Cleon, formerly at the head of a gang of robbers, and who received many and great favours at the hand of Antony, but afterwards went over to Augustus. The people were called Abrettenses; inhabiting the country between Ancyra of Phrygia and the river Rhyndacus.
