(anc. geog.), a town of the Peraea, or on the other side Jordan. Said to be called Livias, or Libias, in the Greek manner, by Herod in honour of Livia, (Eusebius, Jerome); and of the same latitude almost with Jerusalem, (Ptolemy; called Julias by Josephus, who always calls the Livia of Augustus Livias).
