a city, the capital of a palatinate of the same name, in Little Poland, on the Vistula. The Swedes blew up the castle in 1656; and here, in 1659, was a dreadful battle between the Tartars and Ruffians. It is 84 miles south-east of Cracow. Lat. 49° 26'. Long. 20° 10'.
