in botany: A genus of the mognogynia order, belonging to the decandra clas of plants; and in the natural method ranking under the 23rd order, Tribillatae. The calyx is quinquedentate; the petals five, and linear-shaped: the nectarium has ten dentice, on which the antherae grow; the fruit is a drupa, and five in number, each of which has one seed. There is only one species, viz. the indicum, a native of Africa and the East Indies.
