ASTA Regia, a town of Baetica, (Pliny;) situated at the mouth of the Baetis which was choked up with mud, to the north of Cadiz: 16 miles distant from the port of Cadiz, (Antonine.) Its ruins shew its former greatness. Its name is Phoenician, denoting a fruh or arm of the sea, on which it stood. It is said to be the same with Xera; which see.
