a town of Armenia, in Asia, situated near the river Aras, 12 miles south of Nakhtivan. The land about it is excellent, and produces very good wine. There is a root peculiar to this country, called ronas; which runs in the ground like liquorice, and serves for dyeing red. It is very much used all over the Indies, and in it they have a great trade. E. Long. 46. 30. N. Lat 39. 0.
