a town of Pembroke-shire in South Wales, seated on the side of a hill, which forms a part of the west bank of the river Dongledye. It is an incorporated town and county of itself. The mayor of the town is admiral, coroner, escheater, and clerk of the markets, within its precincts. Here the assizes are held and the county-jail kept. The town enjoys several privileges, and has its own courts. It was formerly fortified with a rampart and castle, which are now in ruins. Population 3093 in 1811. W. Long. 4. 58. N. Lat. 51. 45.
