a town of England, in the county of Suffolk, where there is a considerable manufactory of checks, cottons, and fustians. By the ruins of a church and castle still to be seen, it appears to have been formerly a place of much greater consequence than at present. It had 248 houses, and about 1216 inhabitants, in 1811. E.
