a city of the government of Oppeln, in the Prussian province of Silesia, and the capital of a circle of the same name. It stands on the river Bratina, sometimes called the Prudnick, and is surrounded with walls. It contains one Lutheran and two Catholic churches, a convent of the order of mercy, 446 houses, and 4520 inhabitants, who produce much linen and woollen cloth, and some cotton goods. a city of Bavaria, in the circle of the Upper Danube, and the capital of the bailiwick of the same name. It stands on the Danube, over which there are two bridges. There is an ancient castle, in the great hall of which many venerable curiosities are exhibited. It contains 600 houses, with 4384 inhabitants.
