a small city, capital of the bailiwick of the same name, in the circle of Regen in Bavaria, containing, in 1847, 254 houses and 1200 inhabitants. It was formerly the seat of the Counts Abensberg. Here Napoleon defeated the Austrians in a great battle on the 20th of April 1809. It is the Abusina of the Romans; and ancient ruins exist in its neighbourhood.
