a large and populous town of Afghanistan, four miles from the right bank of the Indus, in N. Lat. 30° 5', E. Long. 70° 52'. It has an extensive transit trade, and manufactures of silks, cottons, scarfs, and coarse cutlery. The bazaar contains 1600 shops. Pop. about 25,000, of whom nearly one-half are Hindus, the rest Mohammedans.
